Guidelines for Testing Accommodations
Many students find using the Office of Student Accommodations or the Testing Center to be very beneficial when taking a test that requires extended time and/or a quiet (distraction free) place.
It is the intent of the OSA to encourage the student to become a responsible self-advocate, able to manage their time and schedule effectively with consideration to their faculty and staff members they will be working with. All tests can be scheduled through ACCOMMODATE.
It is the Students responsibility to:
- A Faculty Notification, specifying testing accommodations to be used (in advance of the test date).
- Ask the instructor for assistance in coordinating the accommodation
- All students using the Testing Centers must follow their process on the Downtown (DTC) and Parham Road (PRC) campus, providing the student has completed step 2.
- If students are using the OSA for testing, they will need to schedule an appointment 3 or more days in advance of the test date. If specialized software is part of the accommodation that must be specified in advance.
- For Midterms and Final Exams, students should schedule their appointments with OSA 8 days or more in advance of the Exam to ensure a Testing room is available.
- Students may not change their Testing appointment at will. Prior notice is required (even for illness) and permission from the faculty member in writing or via email must be obtained before the student may reschedule any test. In the event of an emergency or sudden illness~ Contact your INSTRUCTOR first and then notify the OSA.
- Failure to arrive ready to start a test may reduce the amount of time provided to the student as others require access to the testing facilities and have scheduled for a specific time frame.
- Students must bring all materials needed for their tests to include: scantron sheets, calculators, rulers, pencils, etc. It is not OSA's responsibility to provide these materials.
Schedule a Test Booking Appointment in Accommodate
How to Schedule a Test Booking Appointment
You must have a current Semester Request for accommodations in place to schedule a Test Booking Appointment.
- Log in to Accommodate.
- Select Testing Room from the sidebar menu.
- On the bottom of the page, select the red New Booking Request button.
- Use the dropdown menu to select the course for the test. Next, select only the Date Range to take your test, nothing else. You’ll complete the other options later.
- Scroll down and select the red button labeled Check Availability to see available times.
- You’ll see available rooms and times on both campuses. Select the day and campus; another box will open. Provide all the required answers and schedule your Test Booking appointment.
- In the text box labeled exam, type your test, quiz, or final name (e.g. Test 1, Quiz 3).
If you need to request a different day or time, you must give a reason. - Next, Submit Request. The appointment is NOT confirmed until the faculty approves, making this a PENDING request.
- The request now shows on your screen as a Pending Booking Request.
- You’ll receive an email confirming your request was received. Once your professor approves the date and we receive the test, you’ll receive another email confirming the appointment. If you have any questions, please contact us at osa@reynolds.edu or by phone, (804) 523-5628 or (804) 523-5290.
