How Do I Prepare to be a Successful Online Student?

All students who are new to online learning at Reynolds are expected to complete the Orientation to Learning Online.  To set up your Orientation account in Go2Reynolds:

  • Click on Create Account
  • Enter the required information
  • Create your own passsword
  • Locate the link for Orientation to Learning Online
  • You can return to this account as often as you like to view all of the video options on the student dashboard.

Complete Orientation to Learning Online on your time.  It helps you to understand how typical online classes are structured, paced, and facilitated. You will have the opportunity to interact with a facilitator and with other students as you prepare for learning online.  Students who successfully complete Orientation to Learning Online receive a "Certificate of Completion" to share with their online instructors.


 

What Do I Need to Know About Technology to be a Successful Online Student?

Reynolds offers helpful video tutorials for Blackboard, SIS, Google, and other technology resources you may need.  Also be sure to check out important information about the specifications you should look for in the computer you will be using as online student.


 

How Do I Take a Proctored Test?
Check out our Proctored Testing information to learn about all of the different options you have for online proctoring.  In addition to testing at one of Reynolds' three Testing Centers, you can also have tests proctored at another Virginia Community College or at a college or university near you! 


 

I'm in Need of Tutoring or Other Help to be Successful.
Smarthinking is an online tutoring service. You can find a link to it in your Blackboard class titled "Online Tutoring."  Smarthinking provides tutoring in subjects like mathematics (basic math through Calculus), Accounting, Spanish, and Writing.  More information is also located in the Student Help section of Blackboard.

Reynolds has a library of Student Success Workshops on a variety of topics such as time management, reducing test anxiety, etc.  You can watch these 20 to 30 minute sessions from any computer and at any time of the day or night - they are available 24/7!

Academic Advising
Academic advising is available to all students – even those who cannot come to campus. Receiving accurate guidance about your courses and programs is critical to ensure that you are on the right track.
