Student
Virginia Education Association (SVEA)
Future Teachers Club
J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College has an active chapter of the Student
Virginia Education Association, which is affiliated with the Virginia Education
Association (VEA) and the National Education Association (NEA).
Student members receive many benefits, including several publications for future
teachers and liability insurance while participating in college-assigned field
experiences. Meetings are held monthly and offer informative speakers. Club members
may attend a Fall VEA Instructional and Professional Issues Conference as well
as the statewide SVEA Conference held each spring.
Students may join by visiting the SVEA website and choosing "Join Now" from
the top navigation links. Paper membership forms may be picked up in the
Center for Teacher Education on the Downtown Campus in room 358.
We are also looking for students interested in being officers in the club.
As an officer, you will represent the JSRCC chapter at state-wide meetings.
For more information about the SVEA, contact faculty advisor Dr. Harriet R. Morrison
and put "SVEA" in the subject line of your email.
