![]() Dear Friends, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College made a public promise to you in November 2007 that as a college we were ready to deepen our impact and broaden our role in this community. We asked you to rise tothe challenge and contribute
to our first-ever Major Gift Campaign to increase access to higher
education in Virginia and provide the next generation of skilled
workers for Greater Richmond. Thanks to your wonderful support we have reached our $15 million goal in the Campaign for Reynolds! Your gift is making a tremendous impact in this community— thank you. To learn more about your return on investment in our students view the most recent Annual Report. What you will notice in this combined annual report/community celebration publication is the hundreds of names of individuals, businesses, and community partners who join you and are collectively making a positive impact to improve this community through our College. We felt it was critical to print each name and recognize the overwhelming and generous support from this community. As community colleges continue to play a role in our nation’s economic recovery, completing the Campaign for Reynolds is a worthy moment of celebration not only for Reynolds, but, for Virginia. Thank you for your remarkable support to help us reach this milestone. Please know we remain grounded in our core mission after 35 years of existence, to develop individuals for employment and career advancement, prepare students for successful transfer to colleges and universities, promote lifelong learning, and provide a skilled workforce that contributes to regional economic development. And now, we are ready to do more to address pressing needs in Richmond—from the high school dropout crisis and raising the aspirations of our youth, to filling critical workforce shortages, and removing financial barriers to college that remain for people in this community. The Campaign for Reynolds is allowing us to do this. So now that we have reached this milestone, what is next for J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College? We will discover ways to leverage these new resources, partnerships, and opportunities made possible by the first-ever Campaign to provide even greater access to college for traditionally underserved populations. We will expand college readiness through partnerships with local school divisions, non-profits organizations, and employers to make sure all of our high school graduates find success in post-secondary education or training. We will look for more opportunities to use distance education to broaden our reach in delivering instruction to prepare people for the next generation of job opportunities. And, we will find new ways to help all businesses in our region—small, medium and large—recruit and retain a skilled workforce. Our journey is not yet over. Perhaps, this milestone marks a new beginning.
