The Reynolds Scholarship Program is funded by the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Educational Foundation.
The 2026–2027 Off-Cycle Reynolds Common Scholarship application will close Friday, Sept. 4, 2026. Scholarship award amounts will be limited during the off-cycle awarding process.

The application window opens annually Dec. 1 – March 1. You will have an opportunity to apply for assistance at a later date for other semesters.
Please do not wait until the last minute to set up payment arrangements, as scholarships are intended to assist and not fully cover each student's expenses.
Recipients who are awarded funding will be notified via email in July before the start of the fall semester. Scholarships are awarded for the academic year and are divided between both the fall and spring semesters. You must have a 2.0 GPA and be studying to obtain a degree or certificate in a program at Reynolds to be eligible. If awarded, a thank-you letter is required to receive your award. You are also expected to attend our annual scholarship luncheon, if invited, to meet the donors who help fund your educational expenses. If you have been awarded scholarship funds, we ask that you notify our office if you change your major/program.
To accurately and appropriately determine each student's financial need, it is beneficial for our office to know that you have completed your FAFSA for the academic year. If you need help completing your FAFSA, please visit Applying for Financial Aid. Your FAFSA does not need to be completed for you to apply for a scholarship.

Top Tips for Scholarship Applicants
Tip 1: Don’t rush through your essay questions in the application.
The awarding process has changed. You will now be awarded based on the scoring of your essay questions and Brag Box. Give these some thought, and do a spelling and grammar check before submitting. Describing your goals and your need for financial assistance helps the Scholarship Committee learn about you and your unique circumstances. Tell us what sets you apart in the Brag Box or something that you have accomplished or are a part of. Just DO NOT leave that section unanswered.
Tip 2: Actually submit your application.
Working on your application and not submitting it is like leaving an important purchase in your shopping cart. Set aside some quiet time to work on, complete and submit your application — in one sitting, if possible. Many students complete their applications in less than an hour.
Tip 3: Reapply each year.
Just like with FAFSA, you must reapply for scholarship consideration each academic year. You will not receive an automatic renewal of scholarship funds from one year to the next.
Reynolds Scholarship Fund Descriptions
There are a variety of scholarships available through the Reynolds Community College Educational Foundation. Some are general, while others are for specific programs of study or for students who live in a particular locality. All are awarded via the college's general scholarship application. Awards are only available for fall and spring semesters unless otherwise stated.

VFCCE-Walmart Workforce Certification Exam Scholarship
If you are required to take an industry certification exam to receive licensure, meet specific job requirements as part of your Reynolds program or fulfill post-graduation requirements, you may be eligible for reimbursement if you pass the exam. Through a partnership with Walmart and the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE), we will reimburse students with a passing grade up to $200 on a first-come, first-served basis upon meeting all application and reporting requirements. You must show proof of a passing grade for consideration. Students are not eligible for more than one award.
