CETL currently offers two HyFlex workshops, or Faculty Learning Opportunities, to support instructors navigate the dynamic landscape of hybrid-flexible (HyFlex) learning environments. Expand each below to read the workshop description.
*Fall 2025 Update*
Starting in Fall 2025, Reynolds HyFlex classrooms feature a new equipment configuration designed to make teaching across modalities more seamless. Updates include a streamlined instructor podium setup, simplified connection points, and improved integration between the instructor machine, microphones, and cameras. These changes make it easier to manage audio, video, and shared content for students in the room, on Zoom, and watching recordings later. Our HyFlex workshops now reflect this updated configuration so you can practice with the tools exactly as you’ll find them in your classroom.
Teaching in the HyFlex Classroom (face-to-face)
This workshop introduces instructors to the HyFlex classroom environment, including displays, microphones, cameras, and media-sharing tools. Participants will explore foundational HyFlex pedagogy while learning to manage both in-person and remote learners in real time, operate presentation technology confidently, and troubleshoot common classroom issues. Ideal for instructors actively teaching in HyFlex classrooms, as well as support staff and event managers assisting with HyFlex delivery.
*Please note that HyFlex 101 is not required to attend HyFlex 201. HyFlex 101 is intended for non- HyFlex faculty assigned to a HyFlex classroom.
HyFlex Course Design: Tools, Strategies, and Excellence (asynchronous)
This short-format, self-paced course is designed to support faculty in developing and delivering HyFlex instruction that is flexible, engaging, and inclusive. Participants will explore the key components of the HyFlex model, including course design strategies, technology setup, active learning techniques, and approaches for supporting access across modalities.
Each module includes a mix of short readings, videos, and low-stakes practice activities. The course concludes with an opportunity to create a personalized action plan for inclusive HyFlex participation. Reflection prompts are provided throughout the course, along with an optional opportunity to keep a reflection journal to support deeper thinking and application.
