David Seward is the Program Head for the Horticulture program. He is a Certified Landscape Designer and a Certified Horticulturist. He teaches courses in Greenhouse Crop Production, Greenhouse Management, Principles of Horticulture, Landscape Construction and Maintenance, Nursery and Garden Center Management, Chemicals in Horticulture, and Estate Gardens.



Betsy Trice

Betsy Trice is co-owner of Peacemeal Farm, LLC., a small sustainable farm that specializes in growing vegetables and seeds as well as raising livestock. She is also a Certified Permaculture Designer. Betsy teaches Introduction to Biointensive Mini-Farming, Four Seasons Food Production, Growing for Market Mini-Farming, and Complete Diet Mini-Farming.

David Pippin is the President of David Pippin, Inc., which specializes in floral design and garden consultations. Currently, he is the floral designer for The Executive Mansion of Virginia. David teaches Introduction to Floral Design, Advanced Floral Design and Advanced Floral Design Applications.



John Wise

John Wise, Senior Adjunct Faculty

John Wise is the owner of A Wise Gardener, which features ornamental and unique garden flora. John also does garden consultation and lectures. John teaches Plant Propagation, Horticultural Botany, Landscape Plant Materials, Nursery and Garden Center Management, and Perennial Plants.
