Notification Effective March 11, 2024

Reynolds School of Health Professions is temporarily pausing new admission to the practical nursing certificate program for Fall 2024. We will not be accepting any applications for this coming year. During this period we will be conducting a comprehensive review of the curriculum and faculty staffing needed to ensure student success. Please reach out to to explore alternative programs. 

An update will be posted in January 2025 to provide further notifications regarding the program’s status.

Step 1. Print the Practical Nursing Certificate Checklist

Review all the requirements to apply to the program to ensure you have met the qualifications to attend an information session and apply to the program. Questions about the requirements for the program may be directed to the School of  Health Profession office at 804-523-5375 or emailing at shp@reynolds. edu and scheduling an appointment with an academic advisor.

Step 2: Attend one of the Mandatory Information Sessions

There are no information sessions scheduled at this time. (temporarily pausing program)

PN HESI Admission Test - Starting January 2024 the HESI test will be available to purchase online and to be taken at either the Reynolds testing center at the Parham Road campus or the Downtown campus. Appointments are required. Please see the HESI Practical Nursing Admissions Test instructions page for full details. Please use the payment IDs and the instructions on the "HESI Practical Nursing Admission Test Page" to create an evolve account, pay for the HESI exam and request the instructions to test on campus.

Step 3: Request the Practical Nursing Certificate application

You may request the Practical Nursing Certificate Program application by emailing us at Requests will usually be responded to within 3 business days.

Additional Notes:

  • Each Information Session will focus on Questions & Answers to pre-practical nursing student questions.
  • Application deadline for the Fall cohort each year is the 1st Monday in August. Applications are to be submitted electronically and should include copies of all the student's documents that are required in PDF form. Please follow the instructions on the application carefully.
