9:00 am Welcome
CAPT Rick Rush welcomed everyone to the Dominion Club. CAPT Rush asked Kathy Graziano to kick off board introductions.
Remarks from the President
Dr. Paula Pando, college president, provided some opening remarks. Dr. Pando addressed the need to truly deliver on outcomes and completions. Are we providing something of value to our region?
(Ice Breaker) Two Truths and a Lie
Dr. Tim Merrill led the college board in an activity of Two Truths and a Lie. The board enjoyed this fun way to get to know one another better.
CCWA Presentation
Ms. Elizabeth Creamer, Vice President of CCWA shared her presentation is meant to be interactive. Ms. Creamer presented on five major trends at CCWA.
Board Structure and Communications
CAPT Rick Rush led a presentation on the VCCS State Board and the Reynolds Community College Local Board structure. CAPT Rush also reviewed some of the FOIA requirements of the local board.
Lunch
College Leadership Presentation: Where We’ve Been, Where We Are, Where We are Going: Dr. Paula Pando, Dr. Lori Dwyer, Dr. Terricita Sass, Ms. Amy Bradshaw and Ms. Bess Littlefield.
Dr. Paula Pando kicked off the leadership presentation. She shared she has the top executive team in the state. Reynolds Community College has served nearly 300,000 in its 50 year history. Our mission is to be the regions trusted partner in education.
Dr. Lori Dwyer’s presentation consisted of the honest review of our programs, the significant renovations taking place at the Downtown Campus and some of the contemporary modalities we will be utilizing to serve our students. We will be investing in our faculty.
Dr. Terricita Sass presented on the need for strategic enrollment, purposeful recruitment to retain and reengage our students with targeted supports. Opportunities exist with the over 25 ALICE population.
Ms. Amy Bradshaw reviewed the FY23 budget development. The strategic financing approach in January 2022 began with “What are we going to invest in?”
Ms. Bess Littlefield presented on the Educational Foundation’s awards to students in both scholarships and grants. Ms. Littlefield shared some recent highlights of the Foundation including the recent hiring of a Director of Grants Management as we will be seeking more federal grants, Marketing partnering with Enrollment Management to promote academic programs and the work being done with data analytics.
Committees Goals for the 2022-23 Calendar Year
The three committees broke out into groups and worked on a goal for the 2022-23 calendar year.

Chair Graziano thanked the board for their attendance today. The retreat provides an opportunity to get to know one another.
