Reynolds Receives $250,000 G3 Innovation Grant
Reynolds Community College was recently awarded a $250,000 grant to implement a Get a Skill, Get a Job, Get Ahead (G3) Innovation project. The grant will fund Expanding the Talent Pipeline in Respiratory Therapy, which will help meet urgent labor needs in the healthcare field.
“This grant will help ensure our respiratory therapist students are taught in a contemporary lab with modern equipment,” said Dr. Lori Dwyer, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Reynolds. “The grant will also allow new investment in hyflex classrooms and help us reach beyond our immediate community.”
Reynolds offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Respiratory Therapy. The program prepares students for roles as contributing members of the modern health care team concerned with treatment, management, and care of patients with breathing, cardiovascular, and sleep abnormalities. The Respiratory Therapy program also falls under the umbrella of G3 programs offered at Reynolds. G3 at Reynolds is a tuition assistance program for any Virginia resident who qualifies for in-state tuition and whose family income falls below an identified threshold. All designated G3 programs are in career areas that are in high demand in Virginia.
