Meet Ryan Lingo

Meet Ryan Lingo, a Reynolds Community College alum who has gone on to achieve remarkable success in the field of data science and technology consulting. Lingo's academic journey began at Reynolds, where he earned an associate degree in business administration and management. His thirst for knowledge and ambition led him to the College of William & Mary, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in data science. Today, he is thriving as a Senior Data Science and Technology Consultant with Ernst & Young (EY) in the vibrant Washington, D.C. area.

Educational Journey

Following a summer internship with NASA, Lingo began his educational journey at Reynolds where he pursued a degree in Business Administration and Management. His time at Reynolds allowed him to build a strong foundation in business principles and management, which would later prove to be invaluable in his career. He chose Reynolds for its convenient proximity with an easy commute and cost-effectiveness.

“Going to Reynolds is a great way to determine what you want to do, while saving a lot of money — rather than going to a four-year, spending extra time there, and accumulating that cost.”

Through the Transfer Program, he could get an associate's degree in two years with guaranteed credit transfer to four-year Virginia colleges. Lingo thought carefully, then chose William & Mary due to small class sizes which matched those at Reynolds.

After another NASA summer internship he entered William & Mary, focusing on Data Science. Over his first summer there he interned with NASA a third time, as a Data Science Intern, strengthening his career choice. This solidified his decision to go into that field and the following year he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Data Science from William & Mary.

Professional Success

After completing his BA, Lingo entered the professional arena and joined Ernst & Young (EY), one of the world's leading professional services organizations. At EY, he began as a Technology Consultant and in a matter of two years, was promoted to a Senior Data Science and Technology Consultant, contributing his expertise to help clients navigate the complex world of data analytics and technology.

As a consultant, Lingo collaborates with EY's clients, many of whom are government contractors, to identify and implement cutting-edge solutions that leverage the power of data science. His work involves a wide range of projects, from data analysis and predictive modeling to advising on technology strategies. Lingo's role is crucial in helping businesses make data-driven decisions, optimize their operations, and stay competitive in today's fast-paced business environment.

Today he also gives back as a mentor with StreetWise Partners, a D.C. organization that advances economic equity by connecting underrepresented talent to mentorship and career opportunities.
