The J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Board convened at 4:03 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Downtown Campus Community Room.

CALL TO ORDER
Mary Studevant called the meeting to order.
ROLL CALL
Chair Studevant affirmed that a quorum was present.
PUBLIC COMMENT
No Comment.
BOARD CHAIR’S REPORT
Chair Studevant shared the board contributions to the J. Sargeant Reynolds Educational Foundation is almost at 100% giving.
Chair Studevant encouraged board members to participate in the presentation of a college board scholarship to a high school senior in their locality.
Chair Studevant also reminded board members of the upcoming Graduation on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the VCU Siegel Center.
MINUTES
Chair Studevant asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Minutes of the March 7, 2024 meeting.
Upon a motion by Mrs. Kathy Graziano and seconded by Mr. Owen Matthews the Board approved the Minutes from the March 7, 2024 meeting. The motion carried 9-0-0.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Dr. Pando welcomed the board this afternoon to the Downtown Campus and presented on the following:
- What a Year! Opening new and renovated facilities, Partnership with the City of Richmond, nursing program success, SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Award, National recognized DREAM Scholar
- First Ever Give Day – Create a culture of giving
- ATD Work – Flight Path
- Where are we heading?
- Building the 2024-25 operating budget
- Virginia State Budget
- We have a double bottom line, Our Mission and Resources
- Expenditures
- Goochland Campus – We are not selling the Goochland Campus.
- State Board meeting next week
- Increasing Grant and Philanthropic giving
- Commencement May 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm

FEATURED PRESENTATION
Show Us The Money by Ms. Lindsay Lane Robinson and Mr. Sean Terrell
Ms. Robinson began the presentation by identifying the funding priorities. Ms. Robinson shared more than 95% of funding is restricted. Only 5% is available for wherever it’s needed.
Mr. Sean Terrell spoke to Grants and broke down the Grant awards by Federal and State. Of the $25 million requested in 2023-2024, approximately $18 million is still under review.
Ms. Robinson addressed private fundraising and how Strategic Prioritization determines who and when is considered for solicitation.
Ms. Robinson shared the Inaugural Give Day raised $37,306 from 165 donors.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
