Meet Dre’mon Miller

As the recipient of the 2025 Reynolds Impact Award representing excellence, innovation, and agility, Dre’mon exemplifies the college’s commitment to fostering student success and building strong community connections. From spearheading work-based learning initiatives to ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff, his leadership is shaping the future of criminal justice education.

Beyond his role at Reynolds, Dre’mon is the founder of Street Smartz Over Safety, LLC, a multifaceted community development organization dedicated to youth empowerment. Through afterschool enrichment, life-saving training, and mentorship, the organization integrates forensic science, career readiness, and social-emotional learning to equip young people with critical skills. His efforts have earned multiple accolades, including the Mayor’s Youth Academy Partner of the Year Award and Richmond City’s Positive Youth Development Award for mentoring over 65 young men. Recognized as a bridge between law enforcement, lawmakers, and the community, his work in youth gun violence prevention has been featured in Shoutout Atlanta, 101.1 radio, and Virginia Home for Public Media. Dre’mon is also the recipient of the VCU 10 Under 10 Award for his outstanding contributions to community development across the state.

Where were you born and where do you live now?
I was born in Richmond, VA and I currently reside in Henrico, VA.

When did you join Reynolds?
I joined Reynolds Community College as a full-time faculty member in 2023. I attended Reynolds as a dual-enrollment student when I was in high school and served as an adjunct professor from 2018-2023.

What is your role at Reynolds and what do you do on a typical day?
I serve in the role of Department Chair for the Criminal Justice Program at Reynolds. On a normal day you can catch me calling or emailing students and having conversations regarding their classes needed to graduate or discussing job opportunities. I try to engage with students, adjunct professors, industry partners, and colleagues to create new opportunities for students.

What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I travel and play tennis in several leagues locally and in other states. I also sing and enjoy music in my free time and I cook for friends and family. I own a business, so I put a lot of time into mentorship and giving back to the community.

Anything else you’d like to add?
I have four siblings, who are my biggest headaches and best friends.
