The Reynolds Nursing program requires two admission exams for students applying to the LPN-RN Advanced Placement Option. All admission exams must be taken in person at either the Downtown Campus or Parham Road Campus Reynolds Community College testing center.

  1. LPN-RN applicants must first take the ATI TEAS exam. Students must score as "Proficient", "Advanced" or "Exemplary" to be eligible to apply to the nursing program. Applicants may only take the ATI TEAS exam twice per admission cycle. Results are good for 2 years.

NOTE: Applicants who have already successfully taken the HESI A2 exam may use those results in place of the TEAS through the Fall 2026 application cycle. The HESI A2 must meet the minimum score of 75% in each of the four categories: Anatomy & Physiology, Reading Comprehension, Math, and Grammar.

  2. The second step is to take the HESI Mid-Curricular entrance exam, which is required for current LPNs seeking admission into the nursing program through advanced placement. The exam consists of 75 questions and applicants will have a maximum of four (4) hours to complete the exam. Test questions cover fundamentals, medical-surgical, maternity, professional issues, and psychiatric/mental health content areas. The expected minimum score for the HESI Mid-Curricular entrance exam is 800. The exam may only be taken once.
