Student Speaker Nominations
The Graduation Committee is delighted to request nominations for the 2025 Commencement Student Speaker.
The commencement student speaker serves as the representative for graduating students and celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating class. This prestigious role offers the opportunity to deliver an inspirational address, share common experiences and insights, and encourage fellow graduates as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.
Nominations are accepted from students, and Reynolds faculty and staff. The Graduation Committee will review all speaker nominations, as well as conduct interviews, and make the final selection.

The student commencement speaker for the Spring 2025 graduation ceremony will serve as an inspirational voice for their peers, faculty, and guests. The selected student must be eligible to participate in the Spring 2025 commencement ceremony, scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the VCU Siegel Center. They must also be committed to attending the ceremony in person.
Graduates Take Flight!
Calling all graduating Red Hawks! Get ready to fly the nest to your next adventure. Join us for the Graduates Take Flight celebration. Pick up your regalia, marching card and items needed for the Commencement ceremony while celebrating with your fellow graduates and Reynolds faculty and staff. Get your photo taken with the Red Hawk in his cap & gown, free giveaways and more!

Regalia will be available for purchase March 31
The purchase of caps, gowns, tassels, stoles and other Commencement items will be available through the campus bookstore beginning March 31. Check back here for online ordering and other purchasing information. All regalia orders are non-returnable. Financial Aid is not allowed to purchase regalia.

Graduation Guidelines
A curricular student eligible for graduation is required to complete and submit the online application for graduation for each degree, certificate, or career studies certificate program by the deadline for that semester or term. Students applying from more than one plan shall include all plans on the application. If a student files for graduation, but does not graduate, the student must reapply for a later graduation date. Students may graduate after fall, spring or summer terms.
To be awarded a degree or certificate, students must complete all program requirements as specified in their catalog with a minimum of 25% of credits earned at Reynolds.
- Students must earn a grade point average of at least 2.000 in the curriculum.
- Students must submit all documentation of training, education, or tests from organizations outside of Reynolds to the Office of the Registrar Office by the last day of classes in the final semester. All Reynolds courses must also be completed by the last day of classes in the final semester. Incomplete grades must also be completed by the last day of classes to be used for graduation. The School Dean for the curriculum must recommend the student for graduation, and the Registrar must certify completion of all graduation requirements.
- The student must resolve all financial obligations with Reynolds and must return all library and college materials.
Graduation Honors
Students who have fulfilled the requirements for an A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree or a certificate program are eligible for graduation honors (students completing career studies certificates are ineligible for graduation honors). The honors based on scholastic achievement are as follows:
Graduating G.P.A. cumulative
3.200 Cum laude (with honor)
3.500 Magna cum laude (with high honor)
3.800 Summa cum laude (with highest honor)
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to participate in Commencement?
Participation in the Commencement Ceremony is open to students who applied and graduated in Summer and Fall of 2024 and those who applied for Spring and Summer 2025.
The Summer 2025 students should have no more than 7 credit hours or 2 classes left to complete in the Summer term. Summer 2025 potential graduates, please apply for graduation for the Summer 2025 in SIS and complete the Early Participation in Commencement Request form here: https://reynolds.tfaforms.net/197
Can I withdraw my graduation application?
Students are unable to withdraw their graduation application once submitted. The degree or certificate will be awarded if all degree requirements are fulfilled.
Note: The college reserves the right to graduate students who have completed all requirements for a career studies certificate, certificate and/or associate degree but have not applied for graduation.
