Finishing in Summer 2025 but want to walk in the May Ceremony?

To walk in the May 2025 ceremony you can have up to 7 credit hours or 2 courses left to complete in the summer semester.  To participate, please complete the graduation application in SIS by February 15th for the Summer 2025 and fill out the Early Participation in Commencement Request form here: https://reynolds.tfaforms.net/197  

Applying for Graduation

Step 1: Meet the Requirements

To graduate, you must:
  1. Fulfill your degree requirements as shown on your Advising Report
    a. Log into MyReynolds and click SIS: Student Information System
    b. Click on Academic Records & Progress
    c. On the left, click My Academic Requirements
    d. Click Expand all or View Report as PDF
  2. Earn a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  3. Complete 25 percent or more of your credits through Reynolds Community College
  4. Pay any balances and return any materials to the college (e.g, library books, laptop loaners, etc.)

Step 2: Complete the graduation application

To apply to graduate in the Student Information System (SIS):

  1. Click My Student Information
  2. Under Academic Records and Progress, select Apply for Graduation
  3. Verify your information
  4. Select SR283 for Institution
  5. Select your graduation term (e.g., Spring 2025)
  6. Select the degree/certificate(s)
  7. Complete the questionnaire
  8. Review, click I Agree and then the Submit button will allow you to click it.

Step 3: Confirmation and Follow-Up

When you submit your application, you’ll get a confirmation page.

You can see your application progress in SIS by going into the Academic Records & Progress tile and selecting View Graduation Application from the left-hand menu. Select View Application next to the term you want to view, then select the Academic Plan tab. At the bottom of the screen will be your academic program status. Applied is the first line that will appear. As the Registrar’s staff review your requirements the status will get updated. The status of Pending indicates you are on track to graduate. Contact the Registrar’s office at 804-523-5030 for questions about your status.

Make sure your mailing address is correct in MyReynolds before the end of the semester so the college can mail your degree or certificate(s) to you.

Step 4: Commencement Ceremony

Commencement is the ceremony where you will cross the stage in your cap and gown in proud recognition of your achievements. This year’s ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 2:00pm at the VCU Siegel Center. Visit this Graduation Page often for updates!

Who is eligible to participate in Commencement?

Participation in the Commencement Ceremony is open to students who applied and graduated in Summer and Fall of 2024 and those who applied for Spring and Summer 2025.

The Summer 2025 students should have no more than 7 credit hours or 2 classes left to complete in the Summer term. Can I withdraw my graduation application?

Students are unable to withdraw their graduation application once submitted. The degree or certificate will be awarded if all degree requirements are fulfilled.

Students must complete the graduation application online through the Student Information System (SIS). The online application makes for a more efficient graduation process while ensuring the accuracy of information for diplomas and graduation correspondence. Deadlines for graduation applications can be found on the Academic Calendar each semester.

The college reserves the right to graduate students who have completed all requirements for a career studies certificate, certificate and/or associate degree but have not applied for graduation.

Graduation Guidelines

A curricular student eligible for graduation is required to complete and submit the online application for graduation for each degree, certificate, or career studies certificate program by the deadline for that semester or term. Students applying from more than one plan shall include all plans on the application. If a student files for graduation, but does not graduate, the student must reapply for a later graduation date. Students may graduate after fall, spring or summer terms.

To be awarded a degree or certificate, students must complete all program requirements as specified in their catalog with a minimum of 25% of credits earned at Reynolds.

  • Students must earn a grade point average of at least 2.000 in the curriculum.
  • Students must submit all documentation of training, education, or tests from organizations outside of Reynolds to the Office of the Registrar Office by the last day of classes in the final semester. All Reynolds courses must also be completed by the last day of classes in the final semester. Incomplete grades must also be completed by the last day of classes to be used for graduation. The School Dean for the curriculum must recommend the student for graduation, and the Registrar must certify completion of all graduation requirements.
  • The student must resolve all financial obligations with Reynolds and must return all library and college materials.

Graduation Honors

Students who have fulfilled the requirements for an A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree or a certificate program are eligible for graduation honors (students completing career studies certificates are ineligible for graduation honors). The honors based on scholastic achievement are as follows:

Graduating G.P.A. cumulative
3.200 Cum laude (with honor)
3.500 Magna cum laude (with high honor)
3.800 Summa cum laude (with highest honor)
