Review all the requirements to apply to the program using the checklist below to ensure you have met the qualifications to attend an information session and apply to the program. AAS Nursing Checklist for 2024-2025 Application
Please review each item and check-off as completed. When you selected the Health Science CSC Program Code, an Advisor was assigned. You can meet with Enrollment Services or your Faculty Advisor, as needed, by making an appointment in Navigate.
Application Requirements
- Submission of Official Transcripts: high school, GED, or certificate of completion of homeschooling, and college (if applicable) to the Registrar Office. Transfer credit: Only official transcripts are evaluated for transfer credits. If you are transferring from another VCCS college, you must submit a transcript evaluation (Form 11-0036 for VCCS Transcripts) to the Registrar at Registrar@reynolds.edu
- If English is not your first language , the program requires the submission of TOEFL scores. See the catalog and/or program website for details.
- Financial Aid: Meet regularly with a Financial Aid Specialist in Enrollment Services for planning.
- Review the credits required for each semester. Most courses are in a 15-week format.
- Only courses listed within the AAS Nursing program are eligible for financial aid.
- Completion of Prerequisite Courses: SDV 100 or 101, ENG 111, PSY 230, MTH 133, and BIO 141. BIO 142 is also required for students applying to the LPN-RN Advanced Placement Option . A GPA of 2.5 in these courses must be achieved and is based on the most recent grades earned in each class. Biology courses must be completed within 10 years of the first anticipated semester of the nursing program.
- GPA = 2.0 (cumulative): Overall Reynolds GPA including all prior credit courses taken at Reynolds.
- Completion of the program admission test(s): Please check the AAS Nursing website below for updated information. The program requires the TEAS* exam.
For Fall Admission- TEAS must be completed by April 30
For Spring admission- TEAS must be completed by August 30
* Prior HESI scores will be accepted through Fall 2026 application cycle - Information Session: Attend an Information Session before applying to the program. These sessions are scheduled periodically throughout the semester via Zoom. View all currently scheduled information sessions.
- Application Deadlines: The application can be requested from the email address provided on the program website. All prerequisites listed above must be completed before the application is submitted. Submission deadlines are as follows:
- 3 rd Monday in May to apply for the following Fall semester starting in August of each year
- 3 rd Monday in September to apply for following the Spring semester start in January of each year
Once Admitted
Grading
- The Grading Scale within the AAS Nursing program is: A = 92 -- 100 B = 84 -- 91 C = 80 -- 83
- A "C" is required in each Nursing program course to progress through the program.
- Any course grade of "D" or "F" must be repeated before moving to the next course.
- A course can only be repeated once. Two nursing course failures result in removal from the program.
Program Progression
- Progression to the next semester is based on successful completion of the current semester. Pre- and co-requisite courses must be taken in the sequence identified in the catalog.
- BIO 142, BIO 150, ENG 112, and a humanities/fine arts elective (from the approved list for the program) must be completed before or within the identified semester with the co-requisite nursing courses.
- Please note, that if you have completed the general education courses before the semester, your financial aid may be impacted based on the number of credits enrolled.

LPN to RN Program - If you are a currently a Licensed Practical Nurse and are applying to the LPN to RN program, it is highly recommended that you attend one of the live information sessions provided throughout the year. More options will post as they become available.
Step 3: Complete the Nursing Program Application
Please Note: Application materials sent to alliedhealthadmissions@reynolds.edu will only be accepted from a VCCS student email account. Correspondence regarding the application cannot be provided if it is received from an outside email account address.
Additional Notes:
- Each Information Session will focus on questions & answers for potential AAS degree nursing applicants.
- The application deadline for starting the AAS Nursing or LPN to RN programs in the Fall semester (August) is the 3 rd Monday in May. Application deadline to start the AAS Nursing program in the Spring semester (January) is the 3 rd Monday in September each year.
- Applications are to be submitted electronically, including copies of all the student's required documents in PDF form. Please follow the instructions on the application carefully.
