Guidelines for Testing Accommodations

Many students find using the Office of Student Accessibility or the Testing Center to be very beneficial when taking a test that requires extended time and/or a quiet (reduced distraction) place.

The OSA  encourages students to become responsible self-advocates, capable of managing their time and schedules effectively while working together with faculty and staff.  All tests taken in OSA can be scheduled through Accommodate; the steps are outlined below in "How to Schedule a Test Booking Appointment."

Scheduling Tests with Accommodations in the Office of Student Accessibility

It is the student’s responsibility to follow these steps when scheduling tests with accommodations:

  1. Ensure they have an approved Semester Request for accommodations in place before scheduling any tests.
  2. For tests taken in the Testing Centers, follow the established scheduling procedures for the Downtown (DTC) and Parham Road (PRC) Testing Centers.  Information can be found on the Testing Center's website.
  3. Schedule testing appointments with OSA at least three business days in advance. If specialized software is required, it must be requested in advance.
  4. Schedule Midterms and Final Exams with OSA at least seven business days in advance to ensure a testing room is available.
  5. Changes to scheduled test appointments are not permitted without prior notice. Students must email their instructor for approval before rescheduling due to illness. In an emergency or sudden illness, students should email their instructor and copy OSA, osa@reynolds.edu; students may reschedule the test after the instructor confirms it is allowed.
  6. Arriving unprepared to begin a test on time may result in reduced testing time, as testing rooms are reserved for specific time slots. Students must bring all necessary materials for their test, such as Scantron sheets, calculators, rulers, and pencils. OSA does not provide these materials.
